Deep Cove Tuesday Night Paddlesport Races

24 May

Stand up paddle boarding is an emerging global sport, made popular in Hawaii and now gaining in popularity in Vancouver, BC. The sport is an ancient form of surfing, and is an excellent source of core strengthening. In the sport, the paddler stands on a board, and is propelled across the top of the water by the using a long single-bladed paddle. The sport also allows for an excellent view of upcoming swells, hence the rising popularity with the surf set.

Want to try it out? You can sign up for lessons at Deep Cove Canoe & Kayak here. When you’re feeling confident and would like to compete, or even if you’re just looking for inspiration, make sure to head over to the Deep Cove Paddleboard Races that will take place every Tuesday night from April 5 – September 13, 2011. There is a 6pm check-in time for these races, with a 7pm start. Not quite there yet? They have a learn-to-race clinic at 6:15pm.
